BLOG: 2015 Recap – 2016 Deliberations
2015 was an exciting year for the Brisbane Baylands team. Opening the Project Information Center at 132 Visitacion Ave in March, we provided a central and accessible space downtown so we can share renderings of the project, engage visitors for feedback and most importantly, get to know the community. In addition to opening up the Baylands storefront, we held several events throughout the year, with over 100 participants! These programs included our speaker series on the following topics:
- Caltrain Electrification Update
- The Benefits of Recycled Water
- How to Create and Maintain Green Walls
- Economic Development in Brisbane
- Regenerating the
- Bicycling in the Bay Area
We also had two sustainable development tours…
…and three Site Tours.
Last but not least, the Planning Commission ended the year by wrapping up the hearings process on the Baylands after 10 public hearings, amounting to over 34 hours of service and listened to the input of 100+ speakers, which included a presentation from the applicant, Universal Paragon Corporation. The Planning Commission kicked off their deliberations on Thursday, January 14th and will provide City Council their recommendations on the Baylands. To follow the deliberations, visit the City’s website for the Planning Commission’s schedule of meetings. The next deliberations meeting is scheduled for:
Thursday, February 25th/7:30pm
City Hall, 50 Park Place, Brisbane
Once the Planning Commission makes their recommendations, the City Council will hold their own hearings on the Baylands.
